About Us

Welcome to Bentleigh Early Child Education Co-operative (BECEC), a not-for-profit co-operative run Early Learning Centre and Government Funded Kindergarten, committed to the education and care of children. Our philosophy revolves around the principles of inclusion, community, and the belief that "it takes a village to raise a child.".

A Not-For-Profit Cooperative Run Centre

As a not-for-profit centre, our primary goal is the education and care of the children we serve. Unlike privately-owned services, all the funds we receive through family fees are reinvested directly back into the centre. This means that every dollar goes towards enhancing the children's experiences and resources, organising events, excursions, and providing continuous professional development for our dedicated educators.

Family-Centric Leadership

At the heart of BECEC is a strong sense of community involvement and family representation. Our center is led by the Centre Director, who works closely with the BECEC Board of Management. This board consists of 8 family representative volunteers, all parents of children attending BECEC. This ensures that families play an integral role in decision-making, policy development, and the overall direction of the centre.

Your Voice Matters

We believe that every family should have a say in their child's early education journey. At BECEC, we provide various avenues for families to have their voices heard, including General Meetings and opportunities to serve on the Board of Management. This collaborative approach allows families to actively engage in discussions and voting on important matters such as policies, fee structures, and other centre-related decisions.
